Where are some nice public gardens in your neighborhood? (Discussion)

I had an interesting lunch with a fellow LearnHubber today and we were both wondering about gardens around Toronto, as we snacked at a wonderful terrace garden nearby. I was wondering if anyone knew of good local gardens open to the public in your own city.

In Toronto we have a number that I have been to but I would have to say that my fondest memories are from a place called James Gardens in Etobicoke (Western Toronto). Located near the High Park area along Bloor it was always the starting spot for many a bike ride down the “Bruce Trail”.

Not really a garden… but I really like the Humber Bay Park (east). It has an amazing view of the city, and a butterfly habitat meaning there is a wide variety of native flowers. It is just south-west of the Palace Pier condos and High Park.

I agree Malgosia, even in the winter the Humber Bay Park is nice:

Actually, the Music Garden in Toronto is rather nice too… it’s right next to the Skydome (Rogers Centre)

401 Richmond has some really fantastic gardens. I still have yet to check out the roof-top garden but I have heard great things. It is one of my favorites because it’s really close to work and I can visit it during break time or at lunch.

Is “The Music garden” the one that has been developing along the lakeshore for about 4-5 years now?

years ago (2004ish?) my girlfriend and I were talking a walking tour of Toronto and we came across a funky little urban garden with a water feature and beautiful big hydrangea. There was also a little plaque that pointed out the route to the next little garden. All in all we visited 5 that day. For the life of me, I can’t find the one we started from anymore, but I know that the Peace Garden was one of our stops (at City Hall) so if anyone wants to sleuth this one out for me, I’d suggest starting there!
